The best way to get out of debt is NOT to create more debt. Many people, when it comes to getting out of debt feel overwhelmed and don't know how to go about doing it. A very effective method is called the "roll down" method. Pick one debt and put your extra money towards that one debt. Do it consistently month after month until it is gone. Then use the money you used to pay off that debt, plus the month amount you paid and pick the next debt to pay off. Continue this way until you've successfully eliminated your debt.

Some experts state choosing the highest rate credit card, etc., etc., but it really doesn't matter which one you pick as long as you start. Sometimes eliminating the easy ones first can create extra income and motivation to handle the harder ones.
