I have a collection agency threatening to file a judgement claim against me. I heard from a credit counselor that they can not take any of my assets such as my car (which is leased), my house, or cease my bank account etc.
What can they do in Texas?

currently im a single parent and full-time student. i let my bills get away now im stuck. a credit counselor told me i should file bankruptcy but i dont own anything. dont you have to own something to file bankruptcy?

I have bad credit and I want to pay off all my debt that I have a obtained over the years and want to know exactly how I should do it. Should I contact a credit counselor or debt consolidator to speak to the creditors for me to "workout" the balances for me or what? Once I find out exactly what I owe I will be able to pay the balance off right away.
